If you needed a little inspiration to go for your daily walk, this might be just the story to do it.
A 91-year-old former tennis player, Diane Hoffman, has broken the world record in her age group for the 400 metre athletics event - as well as smashing the US record for both the 200 and 100 metre sprint events.
Competing at the USA Track & Field’s New England Open & Masters Championship in Worcester, Massachusetts, Hoffman ran 400m in a record time of 2:44:25.
The grandmother isn't your typical runner, telling media she puts her abilities down to keeping active.
“I eat candy, cookies, and ice cream almost every day, so moving, period, whether it’s gardening or shovelling snow, or whatever you’re doing, you should be active, because I’m certainly not a runner," she toldThe Boston Globe.
Reflecting on why she decided to get into athletics in the first place, she said there was no defining moment.
“I don’t know! My son wanted to me to run...I don’t run, I am tennis player!” Hoffman said following her wins, according to USATF.
“I guess tennis helped. I always played at the net, going like this, and this...That way no balls could get past me!” she added.
She does, however, believe she has a secret weapon.
