Wedding dress giant David's Bridal has emphasised "rewriting the rules" in their latest ad campaign, highlighting a same-sex couple on their big day.

According to Daily Dot, the store, which was founded in 1950 and is America's biggest bridal chain, is hoping to shift audience focus from the dresses themselves to the experiences of those wearing them.

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” the commercial's narrator says.

“And above all else… something you.”
“We wanted to make sure this spot represented what we see from brides today,” David’s Bridal chief marketing officer Liz Crystal told Ad Age.

She added: “We value every type of bride.”
