Between Carol, The Favourite, Collette, Lizzie, and the upcoming Kate Winslet/Saoirse Ronan movie Ammonite, lesbian-themed period dramas are certainly having a moment.
And we're here for it.
Based on the 2009 novel by Fiona Shaw and directed directed by Annabel Jankel, Tell it to the Bees has emerged as another queer flick to keep our eyes on in 2019, pegged as a highlight after screening at the recent London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival.
Starring Anna Paquin, the movie follows the story of Jean (Paquin), a doctor/bee-keeper in ‘50s Britain who returns to her small hometown to take over her father’s medical practice, only to fall in love with Lydia (Granger), the mother of one of her patients.
In a new clip from the movie, we see Jean and Lydia slow dance to a female cover of Frank Sinatra's 'All Of Me', spinning on a record player. The slow-growing attraction and chemistry between the characters is evident - before the pair are abruptly interrupted by Lydia's son, Charlie.
