Actress Billie Piper says that former Doctor Who companion Rose Tyler would be in love with the new female incarnation of the Doctor.
Piper—who played Rose in 2005 and 2006—made the comments at recent fan conventions Dragon Con in Atlanta and FanExpo in Canada.
Twitter user Cammien Ray wrote: @billiepiper told me that Rose would absolutely be in love with the new female doctor.”
Another fan confirmed Piper’s statements writing: “Billie Piper just said that Rose would still be in love with the doctor in the new incarnation (as in, a LADY) and I’m SCREAMING.”
Fans of the show were quick to agree that Rose would definitely be in love with Jodie Whittaker's Doctor.
Attitude reports that Piper was asked by a fan in Canada about the relationship between the Doctor and their companion.
“If they’re going to change the world and travel through time, they’re gonna have to have a strong allegiance,” Piper said.
“I think this is just the beginning of something really exciting. It’s not gonna be traditional. It’s gonna be modern and progressive.”
“But it will always be about needing each other, regardless of whether the doctor is a girl or a guy or a cat, y’know.
“It’s always going to be a beautiful union.”
