Elton John left a fan red-faced this week, storming offstage mid-performance and telling the audience member to "f**k off".

The incident took place at a show for the 70-year-old's Las Vegas residency, during a performance of "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting", in which fans were encouraged to join him on stage.

While most of the on-stage fans returned to their seats, one fan reportedly got a little close for comfort, causing Elton to walk off stage while security removed the man from the venue.

Sir Elton eventually returned to the stage, telling the waiting audience: “You f**ked it up”.

In a tweet to his fans, Sir Elton John explained his side of the story, explaining that one of the people invited onstage was behaving in a way that was “completely disrupting.”

“On Thursday night in Las Vegas a fan put his hands on the piano keys while I was playing and continued to do so even after I asked him to stop,” the singer tweeted. “He then proceeded to reach over the piano and try to take pictures, completely disrupting the performance.”
