A Dublin hotel has been applauded on social media after going above and beyond for a Muslim guest who was fasting for Ramadan.
Before beginning the annual period of spiritual reflection and fasting, one guest requested an early-morning snack from the Ibis Hotel in Dublin, and was advised to go to the dining room at 2.30am. But when he got there, he wasn't met with a snack, but a full breakfast buffet.
The man's colleague, known as Hemant, shared the heartwarming story on Twitter.
“A Muslim colleague asked our hotel if they could give him a snack before he began his fast,” he said.
“They said ok, please come down at 2.30 am. When he went, he found a FULL BUFFET BREAKFAST laid out.
“The hotel said it was the least they could do. @Accorhotels be proud of Ibis Dublin."
Hemant added: “Humanity is alive among the hatred."
Others soon shared similar experiences with AccorHotels, with a man named Sharafat Shah tweeting that he'd been provided with a pre-dawn meal menu at the Mercure in Singapore.
"Mercure Singapore provide a pre-dawn meal menu in each room for muslim guest," he wrote.
"Guest then select a time slot between 4am to 5am and food will be sent out to the room. They offer this service without additional charges. Thank you!"
Social media users were clearly touched by the act of kindness.
"That's humanity... and thanks for spreading such beautiful gesture," one wrote in response.
"That's positivity that we all need."
