Football fans are applauding a touching moment of camaraderie between opposing players during a game of women's football in Jordan.
According to Indian Express, the heartwarming incident took place during a match between Shabab al Ordon Club and Arab Orthodox Club last week, as part of the WAFF Women’s Club Championship, which features teams from Jordan, Palestine, Bahrain, Lebanon and United Arab Emirates
Despite going on to beat Arab Orthodox Club in the game, Shabab al Ordon players were being celebrated for another reason - rushing to the defence of an opposing player whose hijabi began to fall off her head while dribbling the ball.
Instead of taking advantage of the weak moment, several Jordan-based defenders quickly huddled around their opponent, giving her the time to readjust her hijab.
"Having respect for someone else’s customs and beliefs even if they aren’t your own," one football fan tweeted in response to the clip. "We definitely need more of this in the world today."
"This is the kind of respect that should be infinitely more commonplace in sporting," another wrote.
A fan from Pakistan tweeted: "Whoa, what a beautiful gesture. This is how humanity works."
The winners of this year's WAFF Women’s Club Championship will claim the title of regional champions of West Asia.
