An Indian film has been rejected by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for promoting gay relationships.
Ka Bodyscapes was directed by Jayan Cherian who says he has been engaged in a legal battle for over 12 months in an effort to screen his film.
“There are two high court verdicts in favour of us. The CBFC has had 3 screenings of the movie. They are outrightly denying a certificate. They are not even asking for any cut (sic)," said Cherian on Facebook.
The CBFB wrote that the film “is glorifying the subject of gay and homosexual relationship, nudity accentuating vital parts of the male body (in paintings) in closed shots in the whole movie.”
“The film is explicit of scene offending human sensibilities depicting vulgarity and obscenity through the movie.”
The board said the film was also rejected for showing posters that depicted homosexuality, abusive language and a female Muslim character is shown masturbating.
"I am being targeted, its a classic case of muting dissenting opinion of cinema. The ruling party is propagating a particular kind of morality and somebody who is disagreeing with that is being targeted,”Cherian told India Today.
“Specially, in the backdrop of the current political situation in Kerala, like the youth trying to express themselves in public, they are being muted,” said Cherian.
