A group of LGBTIQ+ activists have taken on anti-choice propaganda in Ireland, using rainbow flags to obscure and hide signs baring photos of foetuses and slogans including “Killing Irish children” and “Is this women’s health?”

Calling themselves 'Radical Queers Resist' (RQR), the group have become increasingly active in the lead-up May 25th, when the Republic of Ireland will hit the polling booths and vote on whether to repeal the country's 8th Amendment, which states that the “right to life of the unborn” is equal to that of a foetus’s mother.

The group is coming up against the Irish Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (ICBR), a prominent anti-choice organisation fronting the “No” campaign.

"The ICBR are relentless but so are we," RQR wrote in an instagram post, encouraging locals to make sure they "check the register and vote yes" to the repeal.

“We can’t have LGBTQ liberation if we don’t have bodily autonomy and if everyone is not equal under the law,” a member of RQR told Pink News.

“So that’s why we’re definitely pro-choice.”

The member added: “We like to use pride flags because we find them very empowering, and it totally encourages a lot of other queer people to get involved.”
