Jaden Smith has defended his right to wear a dress, hitting out at those who have criticised his fashion choices.

The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith famously wore a dress in a shoot for Vogue Korea back in 2016 - and has been a vocal advocate for gender non-conforming fashion ever since.

"If I wanna wear a dress, then I will, and that will set the new wave..." he tweeted yesterday.

"I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes," Smith previously told GQ.

He continued: "I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms. I feel like people don’t really get it."

"I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction."

Jaden's father, Oscar-nominated actor Will Smith, has previously spoken out about his parenting methods, highlighting the importance he places on the freedom of expression.

"What I do with my children, that I feel that the greatest gift that I can give my children is the freedom to be who they are," he told BET.

He added: "I feel like a lot of times, when I was growing up, I would see parents force a child to be what you want them to be."

"As a parent, if it’s an oak tree, I want it to grow as an oak tree. I’m not gonna try to force it to be an apple tree."
