I need a woman to love

Kesha officiates a real-life lesbian wedding in the music video for I need a woman to love - her queer take on the classic Janis Joplin love song.

The song was recorded for a new mini-album titled Universal Love: Wedding Songs Reimagined, which includes re-recorded wedding songs from Bob Dylan and St. Vincent and Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard.

“People should be able to love whoever they want to love,” says Kesha in the video. “That’s what love is.”
Fans were quick to react to the moving video, with some thanking the singer for helping them come to terms with their own sexuality.

"Kesha's music is what made me feel comfortable with myself," one fan wrote in a comment on YouTube. "I was in the closet, I had an eating disorder, I was manically depressed [and] suicidal. Her music is the only thing that got me through it.
He continued: "I'm so happy to see her out of the darkness and to just so selflessly shed so much love. I can't wait to see her this summer with my boyfriend."

A longtime ally of the LGBTIQ+ community, Kesha has previously officiated two other same-sex weddings.
