Lil Nas X is having a pretty great year.

The music industry newcomer has officially reached a new milestone, with his record-breaking track 'Old Town Road' being officially certified Diamond - meaning over 10 million sales in the United States.

Lil Nas is now only the second openly gay man in history to have achieved this figure with a single - joining the one and only Sir Elton John, who reached Diamond status with his beloved hit 'Candle In The Wind'.

According to Gay Times, 'Old Town Road' also became the fastest song this century to reach the certification, behind, again, 'Candle In The Wind'.

(Could this mean that an Elton John / Lil Nas X collaboration is now within the realm of possibility? Please?)
Lil Nas, who came out as gay during Pride Month, has reached dizzying career heights this year.

'Old Town Road', celebrated as a country-rap anthem, became the longest-running US number one single of all time - knocking Mariah Carey off her thrown.

The track, which features Billy Rae Cyrus, spent a whopping 19 weeks in the top position, several weeks longer than the two previous record holders, Carey's 'One Sweet Day' (featuring Boyz II Men) and Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee (featuring Justin Bieber).

We can't wait to see what he has in store for us in 2020.
