Meet Michael Cimino, the lead actor in the new 'Love, Simon' series

Actor and singer Michael Cimino has signed on to play the lead role in the Disney Plus' Love, Simon, a TV adaption of the much-loved 2018 film. 

The series, which has the film's original Simon, Nick Robinson, as a producer and narrator, will see Cimino will play Victor, “a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery.”

The show's synopsis continues: “When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school."

The series will also star Ugly Betty's Ana Ortiz as Victor's mother, Isabel.
According to Variety, the series will be rolled out on Disney's new Disney Plus streaming platform.

Love, Simon is a powerful story embraced by critics and audiences alike for its universal messages of authenticity, love, and acceptance,” Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content for Disney Plus, said in a statement.

“We are honoured to partner with the talented team at 20th Century Fox Television to bring this new chapter of a beloved story to Disney+, continuing the personal and uplifting narrative that captivated fans of the original film.”

The motion picture version of Love, Simon was based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

Cimino has previously appeared in films including Annabelle Comes Home.
