Meet the iconic gay flamingo couple living in a Denver Zoo

Considering a group of flamingos is called a 'flamboyance', we really couldn't think of better queer icons for the animal community.

In the most important news you'll read this week, a zoo in Denver has shared the story of their resident gay flamingos.

Their names? The soon-to-be-celebrity pair is comprised of Lance Bass, a Chilean flamingo, and Freddie Mercury, a local US flamingo.

The couple have been together since 2014 and, despite their age gap, regularly take it in turns to keep a fake egg warm - all in preparation for the possibility of being surrogates in future.
One of the flamingo's namesakes, openly gay former *NSYNC star Lance Bass, shared his support of the literal lovebirds on social media, tweeting: “This is the best!! I hope Lance is the one w the frosted tips!!”

While the Bass and Mercury are more than happy to share their love for Pride Month, fans hope to be seeing more of them throughout the year - at the Met Ball, for starters.
