The NFL has released a powerful new clip as part of its “Love Has No Labels” series that features a diverse range of couples embracing in front of the kiss cam at a football game.

The video features same-sex couples, a mixed-race couple, groups of friends and a woman wearing a t-shirt that reads ‘Orlando Survivor’, acknowledging the attack on Pulse nightclub in Florida last year that took the lives of 49 people, most of whom were queer people of colour.

The clip aims to fight bias against diverse communities and was created by creative agency R/GA and the Ad Council.

“We noticed that [the iconic kiss cam] was often focused on traditional notions of love,” R/GA executive creative director Chris Northam told the Wall St Journal.

“We thought, what if we could showcase a more modern take? We hope it does cause conversation and, more than anything else, that the fans embrace this message and help spread this movement.”

The 'Love Has No Labels' series was launched in 2015 with an Emmy-winning video that featured human skeletons behind an x-ray screen dancing and kissing.

“I do believe that releasing this piece of film at this moment in time will be incredibly powerful,” said Ad Council CEO and President Lisa Sherman.
