A non-binary couple who are set to appear on Good Morning Britain (GMB) this week have received abusive messages via the TV show’s Facebook page.

GMB posted a photo of the young couple named Fox and Owl, and invited their audience to ask questions ahead of their interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

“Fox and Owl are a trans couple who are non-binary, meaning they don’t identify as male or female,” the post reads.

“They’ll be on Good Morning Britain in the morning to talk to Piers and Susanna and are willing to answer any questions you might have. Leave your question below or email them to us...”

Although it’s not surprising that fans of controversial host Piers Morgan have been affronted by a story about gender identity, some of the comments are particularly upsetting.

One popular comment reads: “There are 3 genders these days. Male, female and anythingforattention.”

Another says: “Piers is going to pop a blood vessel. Really people ..we have a gender ..I woman u man!! For goodness sake the world has gone mad!”

Thankfully, some commenters have supported the couple and left encouraging messages on the thread.

One user wrote: “Are they nice people? That's all I'm bothered about. Be who you want to be. Don't like it? Scroll on. The only people thrusting it in your face is good morning Britain so that Piers Morgan can boost his ego.

“Good luck tomorrow Fox and Owl.

“You are probably much better people than the intolerant bunch that have commented on this thread.”

In the last week alone, Piers Morgan has hit out at Emma Watson for accepting a gender neutral acting award and described gender neutral school uniforms as “dangerous”.

The brave couple will appear on GMB tomorrow.
