With Australian TV audiences navigating varying stages of COVID-19 lockdown, quality TV has become a hotter ticket item than ever before. So, it's perhaps unsurprising that viewers are lapping up Why Women Kill, a twisted dark comedy from the creator of Desperate Housewives, Marc Cherry, starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
In the series, streaming now on SBS On Demand, the a-list actors play three women across three different decades, who all live in the same house in Pasadena California and who (you guessed it) each commit murder. And, if social media reactions are anything to go by, it's the high-paced, well-acted, escapist hit of 2020.

In the show, audiences are introduced to Beth Ann Stanton (Ginnifer Goodwin) in 1963, two-time divorcee Simone Grove (Lucy Liu), in 1984, and Taylor Harding (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), who’s traversing an open marriage in 2019. With each era captured beautifully through immaculate dressing and production design, we're invited to grapple with how and why each core character came to commit murder - and left wondering whether or not they get away with it.
Stellar production quality and screenwriting aside, a standout performance from a somehow-52-year-old Lucy Liu has cemented the show as a must-see for audiences.
