Here's some feel-good news for your Friday!

New York Times best-selling author (as well as professor and editor and general badass) Roxane Gay has taken to social media to share the news of her engagement to girlfriend Debbie Millman, host of popular podcast Design Matters.

"Roxane Gay and Debbie Millman are engaged," wrote Millman, a curator and artist, in a post on Instagram, sharing a beautiful series of snapshots chronicling the pair's relationship together.

Writing on a series of six photos, Millman told the story of how they fell in love.

"I met a girl..." the story begins.

"Who loves to write... and is REALLY into Beyoncé... We went on some dates... we fell in love... and now she is my Fiancé."
Meanwhile, Gay tweeted: "Ahhh! Yes, I am indeed engaged to @debbiemillman! It is very exciting! Thank you ALL for the kind words and congratulations."

She added in a follow-up tweet: "I am overwhelmed by all this kindness and excitement. Truly, thank you, from both of us."

Social media users were quick to congratulate the happy couple, with Senator Elizabeth Warren, who Gay has vocalised her support for in the past, sending the couple her well-wishes.

"Congratulations @rgay and @debbiemillman -sending you both my love!" Warren tweeted.
