A new documentary series in the UK has come under fire for depicting a trans man being outed by another of the show's participants.

Channel 4's Genderquake places 11 young people, each with different gender identities and firmly-held views on gender, into the one share house.

Compared by some as a "woke" version of Big Brother, the program aims to examine the changing views toward gender in millennials.
However, controversy has erupted after an episode this week in which Markus, an openly gay man who wears makeup, discovered that fellow housemate Romario - who had previously only identified himself as a straight man - was transgender.

Markus then approached housemate Filomina with the news.

Filomena, a straight and cis-gendered woman, had previously kissed Romario and held traditional views of gender.
“This is a privilege you knowing this information, this is not an entitlement, it is mine to keep,” Romario told Markus after the outing - and viewers shared his frustration.

"Romario is so right in his anger," one viewer tweeted. "It is his decision when and who he discloses his identity to and Marcus thinking he can make that choice for him is so wrong."

Another viewer wrote: "Marcus needs to learn just how unacceptable it is to out a trans person against their will. There's no excuse to out a trans person. EVER!"
The first episode of the series was followed by a live featuring panelists Munroe Bergdorf, Caitlyn Jenner, and Germaine Greer.
