Charlize Theron is joining Australian acting superstars Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie in the upcoming blockbuster Bombshell.
The movie, due for release in December, depicts the #MeToo epidemic within Fox News and stars Kidman as TV journalist Gretchen Carlson, Robbie as fictional Fox News associate producer Kayla Pospisil, and Theron as news anchor Megyn Kelly.
However, it's Theron's incredible transformation as Kelly that has movie-goers getting excited.
With the first trailer dropping this morning, social media users were quick to highlight Theron's uncanny ability to inhabit real-life characters (she previously won an Oscar for playing serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster).
Originally slated to be called Fair and Balanced, Bombshell tells the explosive story behind Roger Ailes, the former chairman and CEO of Fox News and Fox Television Stations, who faced a series of allegations that he'd been the perpetrator of sexual harassment. He resigned shortly after, later accepting work on Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Gretchen Carlson (Kidman) was the first at Fox to file a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes (played by John Lithgow in the movie).
Theron's staggering transformation aside, Bombshell boasts a pretty incredible supporting cast - including Allison Janney as Ailes' lawyer Susan Estrich, Malcolm McDowell as Rupert Murdoch, Mark Duplass as Kelly's spouse Douglas Brunt, and Connie Britton as Roger's spouse, Beth Ailes.
There's even a role for SNL comedian Kate McKinnon - though details of her character are yet to be announced.
