A new TV series has managed to grab the attention of queer viewers (particularly those attracted to men) around the world - serving up sex positivity, diverse casting and hot bods in spades.

Produced for Starz in the US, Apocalypse Now is a kinky new queer sci-fi series set in LA. The show features a diverse cast including Mexican-American Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) and Canada's Avan Jogia as the "stoned and paranoid" protagonist, Ulysses.

Speaking to TV Line, Jogia described his characters as a "sexual astronaut, exploring".

"Sexuality is a spectrum, and he moves around it," he said. "He definitely has the realms in which he’s most comfortable, but he’s also down to try new stuff out."

The actor, who is straight, added: "I like playing a character that’s asking a different question about sexuality, even blurring of the lines of sexuality. It’s not so cut and dry. We can explore many things all at the same time. There aren’t enough characters doing that in movies or on TV.”
Written and directed by Gregg Araki, along with Slutever's Karley Sciortino, the series is a brazen departure from the often apologetic depictions of queer sexuality we see on TV screens.

“All of the sexuality on the show is joyful and celebrated and everyone has agency,” Jogia told TV Line.

“There’s no darkness to the sexuality. We explore sexuality as a positive, not as this guilt-ridden threat that I think so much of American television and American cinema has. I was happy to be a part of a show that doesn’t use sexuality for anything other than positivity and joy.”

Not to mention, much of the show makes for very hot viewing - with one mutual masturbation scene in particular getting some social media users a little hot under the collar.

"Good evening to Avan Jogia and Tyler Posey in an alleyway," one viewer tweeted. "You have my attention."

Ours too, Twitter user. Ours too.
