Former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan has thrown his support behind a woman playing the role of James Bond.
"I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
He added: "I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting."
The comments come months after it was announced that actress Lashana Lynch will play the role of 007's successor in the upcoming Bond film, which boasts Phoebe Waller-Bridge as a co-writer.
In the next Bond installment slated for release next year - titled No Time to Die, Daniel Craig's Bond learns that he's been replaced by Lynch during his retirement.
While Brosnan is unsure of whether further changes are on the horizon, he said that he's 100 per cent supportive of shaking things up in the beloved action franchise.

“The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society," he said.
"So they'll have to address that."
