As we already struggled to deal with recently, Ellen turned 60. There's no need to bring up the fact that, with the slightest hangover, I could pass for 65 meanwhile Ellen still looks like she's barely cracking 40.
Anyway, to celebrate another year not ageing at all, Ellen had her wife Portia de Rossi on her show to give her a unique gift.
Surprising her wife on her own birthday episode, Portia -- battling a croaky throat -- told Ellen, "It's your 60th birthday and this gift had to be really special and it had to represent who you are and what you really care about".
"I combined that and questions from when we first met like 'who's your idol?' and 'what would you do if you weren't a talk show host?'. So I combined that with the fact that for the last two years Ellen has said to me 'I feel like I'm not doing enough,' every day almost."
Portia then introduced her gift: building a campus called the Ellen DeGeneres Center for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, as well as setting up The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. Check out Ellen's reaction in the clip below:
As Portia explained, Ellen has always been a huge fan of Dian Fossey's work in the study and protection of gorillas and with the combo of the new campus (which covers tourism, education and research) and the fund Ellen is able to continue helping conservation efforts around the globe.
Flummoxed, Ellen called it the "best gift anyone could have ever given me".
Not only that but a few days later was Portia's birthday! So Ellen celebrated her with a little montage of all the times she's been on the show.
