Well this is new. One of the members of the trio Migos, Offset has been forced to apologise after he was criticised for a lyric many have deemed homophobic.

In his verse on YFN Lucci's track "Boss Life" Offset raps, "40k spent on a private Lear / 60k solitaire / I cannot vibe with queers".

After the backlash Offset took to Instagram to issue an apology saying... uh, well he posted the dictionary definition of the word "queer" along with a lengthy caption that read, "I didn’t write the line about gay people. I have said before since these issues before that I got love for all people".

The caption continued, with Offset revealing his "passion for fashion" has done away with any notions of homophobia.

"My passion for fashion has lead me to a lot of gay people around me who I have mad respect for and we are very cool so I’m not in a place where I’m hating like that. When I wrote that I was thinking of words that could rhyme with the others (here, lear, solitaire, bear) and I saw this definition abouDt her having a queer feeling she was being watched and it fit what I was thinking about a stalker creepy paparazzi situation."

To me that 'queer' I don’t mean someone who’s gay. I mean lame people who film you, post it and stalk you. Lingo that means strange or odd.

He also addressed the backlash on his Instagram story, again reiterating he was using the older definition of "queer".

"I apologize to anybody I offended by the word 'queer' I was not referring to sexuality I was referring to my reality of not hanging around that wanna post me and stalk me sorry it was taken as the wrong content only God can judge."

A lot of Migos fans came to Offset's defence, saying the lyric had been blown out of proportion and while there were still people who took offence, many were just dumbfounded by the apology and excuse.

This isn't the first time the members of Migos have faced accusations of homophobia. Last year the trio reportedly refused to appear with drag queens while featuring in Katy Perry's Saturday Night Live performance in May, though a spokesperson from Migos' label called the story "completely fabricated".

Prior to that the trio also faced criticism after their comments regarding rapper iLoveMakkonen who came out. In a Rolling Stone interview Offset, along with Quavo and Takeoff, jeered at the idea of support for the rapper after he came out with Offset suggesting the support came because "the world is f***ed up".

"We ain't saying it's nothing wrong with the gays," Quavo said, before adding that Makkonen's queerness may undermine his credibility in the industry.
