Actress Rosie O’Donnell has weighed in on the US presidential election, saying she believes former Vice President Joe Biden should drop out of the race for the democratic party's 2020 nomination.
“I think Joe Biden should say, ’I’m going to sit this one out; I’m going to be an elder statesman and I’m going to advise,'” she said in an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
“And then whoever is the nominee, I think, should think about how to best use somebody with the experience that Joe Biden has, and all these years of politics. But he’s not the future of the Democratic Party.”
The former talk-show host continued to state her support for democratic candidates Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kamala Harris, each of whom performed well at the first democratic debate.
“The metric is who beats this president,” Cuomo said. “Every poll that comes out says Joe Biden beats the president. In the latest round, really, it’s head-to-head with everybody else except Joe Biden. So how does that not make him [the party’s] future?”
O’Donnell replied saying that she believes Biden's age will work against him, adding: “he’s antiquated in a lot of his thinking, a lot of his beliefs; a lot of history is a long time ago.”
O'Donnell also asserted that she doesn’t believe Trump can win another term.
