Popular comedy series Schitt's Creek has more than made up for previous award season snubs, taking out a total of nine Emmys at a new-look COVID-safe Emmy Awards.

The show has picked up all of the comedy awards, with comedy juggernaut Catherine O'Hara winning best lead actress in a comedy series before co-star Eugene Levy took out outstanding lead actor in a comedy series - 40 years after his first nomination.

"See, I told you I was good," he joked as he accepted his trophy, his emotional son and co-star Dan Levy watching on.

"I guess it's kind of ironical that the straightest role I've ever played lands me an Emmy for a comedy performance," Levy continued.

"So I now seriously need to question just what I've been doing for the past 50 years.”

Levy’s son Dan, who also plays his son on the show, went on to win the awards for outstanding writing in a comedy Series, Best Directing in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actor in a comedy.

To top things off, Annie Murphy won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role as Alexis Rose.
