American singer Kehlani has cleared the air for fans speculating about her sexuality on Twitter today, sharing that she identifies as queer.
In a now-deleted tweet, Kehlani wrote: “I’m queer. not bi, not straight, I’m attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non binary people, intersex people, trans people. Lil poly pansexual papi hello good morning. Does that answer your questions?"
After fans took issue with how she listed the spectrum, as well as drawing into question the difference between the bisexual and queer identities, Kehlani deleted the tweet, replacing it with the following:
The singer, who joined Cardi B onstage at Coachella last week, also responded to fans, apologising for causing any offence:
Clarifying her initial tweet, she went on to say that she's attracted to people of all genders and identities, stating that she "felt [the label 'gay'] always insisted there was still a line drawn as to which 'label' of human i was attracted [to]".
Finishing up her thread, she encouraged fans to stay true to themselves but to also continue letting her know about any missteps she was making, noting that while "intention matters... being outwardly correct matters too".
