Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote the novel, 'Between the World and Me' back in 2015 and saw it become a bestseller due to its powerful message on race and the realities of being Black in America. Now the book has been made into a film by HBO and it seems the screen adaptation is having just as much of an impact.
Director and producer Kamilah Forbes adapted the novel for the screen, after having directed a staging of it at the Apollo Theatre in 2018.
Viewers of the film, including actor Jane Fonda, commented on how powerful the film was.
This isn't the only adaptation of a Ta-Nahesi Coates book in the works. Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey are teaming up to develop his novel 'The Water Dancer' into a screen adaptation.
