The BBC has been criticised for omitting LGBT+ lyrics from Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way" for the second time in two months, according to Pink News.
The hosts of The One Show performed the song as part of Let’s Sing and Dance For Comic Relief but the line: ‘‘No matter gay, straight, or bi. Lesbian transgender life’ was removed.
The BBC said in a statement that: "It is standard procedure to edit down music tracks to fit into the running time of the show."
But it’s not the first time the pro-LGBT+ anthem has been censored by the British broadcaster.
In February this year, viewers of talent show Let it Shine were outraged when the key lyrics of "Born this Way" were edited out of a performance by boy band Iron Sun.
The BBC told Gay Times: “All the tracks were edited for length, musical beats and crucially to ensure the boys each had a section to showcase.
“Therefore, typically sections came out of all of the songs performed for the show.
“It made sense therefore musically in an edit, to go with a repeated chorus with a faster tempo the second time around."
Twitter users have expressed their outrage with the broadcaster online.
