The cast of the Amazon Original series Transparent has released a public service announcement, pledging their support for Gavin Grimm and describing how important the case is for the future of transgender rights.
The cast—including Jeffrey Tambor, Gaby Hoffman and Judith Light—speak about how Grimm used the male bathrooms at his school for nearly two months, until adults in his community found out and “bullied him”.
Trans actress Trace Lysette continues: “Now we need our country to make it clear there our laws that prohibit discrimination include transgender people.
“When trans people like me are turned away from using restrooms that match our true gender, we can’t go to work, go shopping or go to school. We can’t be a part of society,” adds actress Alexandra Grey.

“The court’s decision in Gavin’s case will impact how the law treats trans people all over the country.
"When opponents of transgender equality are arguing that we shouldn’t be treated fairly," says Alexandra Billings.
Promoting the hashtag #StandWithGavin, the cast end by saying: "This is not just about restrooms, this is not just about Gavin, it’s about all of us."
