Like many gay men, the Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, was pretty excited to attend Kylie Minogue's Golden Tour last year - so much so that he penned the pop princess a gushing letter.

Look, he's only human.

Using official government-headed paper, Varadkar wrote: "Dear Kylie, Just wanted to drop you a note in advance of the concert in Dublin."
He continued: "I am really looking forward to it. Am a huge fan! I understand you are staying in the Merrion Hotel which is just across the street from my office in Government Buildings."

Then, in a true fanboy sign-off, he added: "If you like I’d love to welcome you to Ireland personally."

However, Minogue's Irish concerts was delayed due to poor health, leaving the PM hanging.

The story does have a happy ending, though. According to The Sun, Varadkar later met Minogue with his partner and a group of friends at singer's rescheduled gig in December.
