The Power Rangers reboot will feature a character questioning her sexuality, the film’s director has told the Hollywood Reporter.

Dean Israelite says that the Yellow Ranger Trini Kwan—played by pop star Becky G—is shown struggling to accept that she’s attracted to women.
"For Trini, really she's questioning a lot about who she is," Israelite said. "She hasn't fully figured it out yet. I think what's great about that scene and what that scene propels for the rest of the movie is, 'That's OK.'

"The movie is saying, 'That's OK,' and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe."

David Yost—who originally played the Blue Ranger in the 1995 film—is openly gay and has praised the decision to feature a queer superhero.

"They really stepped up to the plate," said Yost. "I think so many people in the LGBTQI community are going to be excited to see that representation."
Fans have expressed their excitement for the new film on Twitter—that also depicts Blue Ranger Billy Cranston as autistic.
