Despite a tumultuous production, the first trailer for upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has been released.

The film, which is set for release in November, has been hampered by tensions between lead actor Rami Malek, of Mr. Robot fame, and director Bryan Singer, who was eventually fired from the project with only two weeks of the shoot remaining.

While many Queen fans are excited by the trailer, some are questioning whether or not the film will accurately depict Mercury's sexuality, with the trailer including only one blink-and-you'd-miss-it moment between the singer and another man.

Some also questioned whether the film would address Mercury's death following a battle with HIV/AIDS.

The film, which is already being touted by some as an Oscars contender, also stars Mike Myers, who appears unrecognisable as a record executive who warns Mercury that “Bohemian Rhapsody” is too long.

“It goes on forever!" He says in the trailer.

"It’s six bloody minutes!”
