U.S. sailor Bryan Woodington had only one thing on his mind as he disembarked from USS The Sullivans ship in Jacksonville  - his husband.

Having returned from an deployment overseas, Woodington and his husband, Kenneth Woodington, kissed for the first time in seven months, recreating the famous 'V-J Day in Times Square' photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt. The moment was shared by local news stations and posted on the Naval Station Mayport Facebook page.

“I was excited and I couldn’t wait for it to happen,” Bryan told News4Jax.

“I knew I was going to dip him.”

“He got off the ship and I lost all control,” Kenneth added.

“I just dropped everything and I just ran.”

While the photo received some negative comments, the couple said they were unphased.

“It didn’t really bother me,” said Kenneth.

“Honestly, I’m the type of person who doesn’t really care that much about what people say.”
