An American man's story about his former Jehovah's Witness parents has gone viral on Twitter - and for all the right reasons.

A tearful Azya Babula, 21, took to social media over the weekend to share that, after a long personal journey, his parents had finally told him that they accepted his sexuality.

"21 years later y'all and the burden has been lifted off my shoulders," he wrote.

He added: "I'M SO HAPPY BUT CAN'T STOP CRYING."

Babula said that he and his parents even shared a "full 2 hour convo" about boys and ex-boyfriends.

"You guys don’t understand; we fought for so long our relationship was horrible," he wrote. "I love them and I finally got the one thing I wanted from them and it was their love and acceptance."
The man's initial tweet was 'liked' over 400,000 times and retweeted over 50,000 times, leaving Babula moved by the support.

"Again thank u everyone for the enormous amount of love," he tweeted, adding that he was "so overwhelmed and emotional" after the outpouring of support.
