Talk about family resemblance.

A Connecticut man has revealed that he's gay after both his ex-wife and son came out of the closet.

"I finally was strong enough to say I don't want to live this life anymore, I don't want to continue to live a lie," Bruce Downer, 53, told the New York Post.

He added: "I wanted to live my true life."

Downer explained that after 23 years of marriage, he and his ex-wife decided to divorce. But neither knew at first what was to come.
"I didn't know she was gay and she didn't know I was gay and we were married for 23 years," Downer, now a registered nurse in New York City, said.

However, Downer's son, Tyler, had an inkling that his father might also be gay - after only recently coming out himself.

"I sort of knew before he told me," Tyler said. "It was easy to talk to him because I knew he would understand."

"I am now very happy. I love the person I am, no self-hatred," the father, who celebrated New York Pride with his son over the weekend, told the New York Post.

"Today, I’m celebrating with my community. It makes me feel so proud."
