Season 2 Queer Eye hero Ted Terry, referred to as the 'hipster mayor', has announced his bid for the US Senate.

The 36-year-old mayor of Clarkston in Georgia appeared in an episode titled 'Make Ted Great Again', which saw personal grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness convince the young politician to remove his trademark beard.

The progressive democrat told Atlanta Magazine that he will be campaigning for the Georgia seat currently held by republican and open Trump supporter David Perdue, with the goal of bringing "a new generation of leadership to the Senate - a new perspective.”
“The median age of the Senate is over 60 years old, and there is no voice representing what would be the largest voting block in America in 2020 - the under 35-year-old voting block," he told the publication.

Taking to Twitter, Terry wrote: "I’m running for the US Senate because we deserve better than the politicians who use fear to divide us."

He added: "We deserve a compassionate leader with a bold vision and the courage to see it through."

Terry is the youngest mayor in Clarkston's history.
