A creationist theme park in Kentucky has begun lighting up it’s ‘life-size’ Noah’s Ark permanently in the hopes of “taking back the rainbow” from the gay community.
The Kentucky Ark Encounter Park first began lighting up the attraction in December when owner Ken Ham declared that the symbol had been appropriated from the LGBT+ community.
“Sadly, people ignore what God intended the rainbow to represent and proudly wave rainbow-coloured flags in defiance of God’s command and design for marriage," he said.
“Because of this, many Christians shy away from using the rainbow colours. But the rainbow was a symbol of God’s promises before the LGBTQ movement—and will continue to be after that movement has ended.
“As Christians, we need to take the rainbow back and teach our young people its true meaning.”
This week, Ham tweeted a photo of the lit up in rainbow colours, writing: “The @ArkEncounter is lit permanently at night with a rainbow to remind the world that God owns the rainbow & is a sign of His covenant.”
Of course, the response from gay Twitter was swift, with social media users quick to point out that the boat was definitely gay.
Ham—who is originally from Australia—posted the rainbow boat three times on his Twitter feed, apparently still determined to “take back” one the most iconic symbols in the world from the gay community.
