A Brazilian UFC fighter proposed to her girlfriend during an in-cage interview over the weekend after a gruelling title fight in Dallas, Texas.
Although Jessica Andrade was defeated by UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk—she used the opportunity to send a message to her girlfriend in the audience, Out Sports reports.
“Today, I’d like to make a special request to my girlfriend, Fernanda, who is here,” said Andrade to the crowd. “I want to ask her hand in marriage.”
Her girlfriend Fernanda said “Yes” and the couple have celebrated with a trip to the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park in Dallas before returning to Brazil.
According to Out Sports, the in-cage proposal was a first for the UFC—not just for same-sex couples.
Andrade has been competing in the UFC since 2013 and made history in her fight against Liz Carmouche—the first UFC bout between two openly gay fighters.
