Elena Ferrante fans can exhale, and start the countdown with a taster of the eagerly awaited American television adaptation of her best selling Italian novel series.
HBO has just released the first official teaser of the new series, based on the first novel in the Ferrante quartet, My Brilliant Friend.
The two-minute trailer shows the friendship between young Elena (Elisa Del Genio) and Lila (Ludovica Nasti) as they navigate patriarchal social codes and adolescence in a traditional working class 1950's Naples neighbourhood.
My Brilliant Friend will reportedly feature eight episodes. The three remaining novels in the series will also be broken into an eight-episode series- The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child.
