In 20 Dates, struggling LA filmmaker Myles Berkowitz can`t get a movie deal in place and he can`t get a girlfriend either. So he has the bright idea of persuading a small producer to put up enough money to make an el-cheapo documentary about dating - he agrees to date 20 girls and to have each encounter filmed with a hidden camera...This is one of those films where it`s impossible to tell what`s genuinely improvised and what`s staged for the camera. Berkowitz dates one unsatisfactory girl after another until he meets Ms Right, Elisabeth - then he wants to concentrate on her, but he`s committed to more dates to finish his film. It`s a thin concept for a feature and, though amusing for a while, it soon runs out of steam, mainly because Berkowitz himself isn`t all that interesting. The most fascinating thing about 20 Dates is the fact that Berkowitz got 20th Century Fox to release his home movie.
All Myles Berkowitz wanted was a chance to save his career and his love life. <BR>
