Dear Claudia is a romantic comedy set in that most idyllic of locations, a desert island. Walter - Bryan Brown has just had to ditch the mail plane he flies in the ocean, but fortunately he and his passenger, Claudia (Aleksandra Vujcic) survive, if somewhat damply. Walter is not really a sophisticate, he`s from the small country town of Talok Springs, where Claudia worked in the local pub. She`s a survivor from the streets of Sydney and she has her own agenda. In the plane are twenty ingots of gold which she stole. Walter is blissfully unaware of the gold, he is however very conscientious about his bag of mail, and he`s also rather reluctant to end this chance to bond with Claudia...Dear Claudia is the work of first time writer/director Chris Cudlipp. As a lightweight romance it works, sort of. But, while we`re prepared to accept totally unbelievable situations in films like this, like You`ve Got Mail and Six Days Seven Nights, some of the situations in Dear Claudia are so totally preposterous they`re just silly...
