An unorthodox comedy.

It is thoroughly entertaining and has a lot to offer western cinema.

Award winning film Go for Zucker co-written and directed by Dani Levy and said to be the first German \' Jewish comedy since World War II. Henry Hubchen is Jaeckie Zucker a Berlin hustler and pool shark who is up to his ears in debt and is about to be thrown out by his wife Marlene - Hannelore Elsner. A telegram arrives informing them that his mother has die and left an inheritance. But there is a catch; he will have to observe the practice of morning called \'Shiva\' and reconcile with his estranged brother Samuel- Udo Samel an orthodox Jew. With the two families under one roof and being observed by the Rabi, Jaeckie\'s only hope to get on top of his debts is to feign illness so he can sneak out to play in a high stakes pool tournament. Go for Zucker is an outrageous and fast paced comedy that hilariously highlights the collision of two cultures in modern day Berlin. Hubchen was born to play the role of Zucker embodying the loveable rouge with much passion and exuberance. The real winner is Dani Levy and Holger Franke\'s screen play. It skillfully juggles the divisions and contradictions of faith, sexuality and politics whilst not singling out one more than the other. Originally made for the small screen Zucker still has much to offer western cinema audiences as well as the huge belly ache.
