The world of the surfers who haunt Bondi Beach and its environs - and the women in their lives - is evocatively brought to the screen in Lee Rogers` gutsy first feature, Dust Off The Wings, which was shot on video and transferred to film. There`s not much of a plot - Rogers himself plays the central character who`s decided to give up his life as a womaniser and get married - and a few of the spaced out denizens of the Bondi scene prove to be tiresome company; but you get the feeling that this is really how it is, this is how these people talk and how they behave. Given its budgetary limitations, the film is visually quite impressive, and the cast, which includes Kate Fischer as well as Rogers` wife, Kate Ceberano, who plays a sort of mother confessor to the group, add to the interest. The film\'s language is extremely colourful, and there are some simulated sex scenes, but nevertheless the censor`s R classification seems unduly harsh and restrictive.
