A snowy night at Chicago airport; planes are being delayed and cancelled. Greg, Tony Goldwyn, a writer, is eager to get back home to his wife in LA, but he doesn`t have a seat; adman Buddy, Ben Affleck, does; and he gives it to Greg when he`s given the chance of a sexy stopover with accomodating Natasha Henstridge. But the plane crashes, and Buddy is so filled with guilt he takes to drink. When he finally plucks up the courage to meet Greg`swidow, Abby, Gwyneth Paltrow, he can`t face telling her the truth....With a plot rather too similar to the Harrison Ford vehicle, RANDOM HEARTS, BOUNCE is a major disappointment from writer-director Don Roos, whose previous film was theterrifically intelligent THE OPPOSITE OF SEX. SEX was provocative; BOUNCE is bland, the kind of cosy weepie anyone could have made. It`s chief asset is Gwyneth Paltrow who actually makes the role of the widow quite convincing, but Ben Affleck, though he radiates charm, never really convinces as the ladies man suddenly burdened with guilt.
