Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason picks up six weeks after the first film. Her new boyfriend is the snobbish lawyer, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), but she's just not happy. Jealous of Darcy's leggy, gorgeous colleague and tempted by her flirtatious former boss, Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant), disasters are bound to happen. She can't ski, she can't skydive, doesn't fit in with Darcy's lifestyle and ends up in a heck of a lot strife.
Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason is nowhere near as entertaining as the first film. Renee Zellweger's whiny voice serves up a constant barrage of self-deprecating thoughts, narrating us through Bridget's exasperating mishaps. It's not all without humour. Hugh Grant plays a perfect bastard, and there's a very funny tussle between him and Firth towards the end of the film. But even with a couple of light moments, save your money and borrow the book from the library.
