Can Johnny Depp's detective solve Biggie's murder?

In "City of Lies" Depp's detective pairs up with Forest Whitaker's journo Jack Jackson to crack the unsolvable case.

"A murder like that only goes unsolved if the police don't want to solve it," Detective Russell Poole tells Jackson of the murder of Biggie Smalls 20 years ago.  

Poole believes police corruption and it alone is the reason why so he and Jackson go about busting it wide wide open.

The film is another opportunity to re-examine the infamous case after this year's TV series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. 

The film opens in America in September (Australian date TBC).
