The clever editors at Gump Studio have lifted classic moments from the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick, and tied them into one moody mind-bender of a short film, The Red Drum Getaway.
With some expert masking and a loopy narrative, the film weaves a conversation between the masters' movies, starting by relocating Jack Torrance from the Overlook Hotel (The Shining), and into a walk-up apartment across the way from Jimmy Stewart circa Rear Window. Jimmy then sets off for a walk a la Vertigo, and happens upon Malcolm McDowell and some white-clad pals seeking trouble and ultraviolence on the streets of San Francisco. We won't spoil it, but yes, Jimmy's eventful day includes encounters with apes and astronauts, and he also cops and eyeful at an orgy.
Enjoy.
