Closer is a complicated story about the interconnections between four people's lives, their infidelities and insecurities. Adapted by Patrick Marber from his own stage play and directed by Mike Nichols, Closer features exceptional performances from Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and particularly, Clive Owen. An intense drama that some people may find remote, but for me, its observations about what makes love tick, are captivating. I was so transfixed that at the end of the film, I felt like I had forgotten to breathe.
