Tuesday 1 December – Adult Material
Hayley Squires (Collateral) and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding) star in this hit British drama series that examines the porn industry from the perspective of leading porn star and mother of three, Jolene. One day on set, Jolene meets 19-year-old Amy; the encounter leads to the unravelling of Jolene’s career, reputation and personal life.
Adult Material airs on SBS VICELAND weekly from 9.30pm Tuesday 1 December. The full season is now streaming at SBS On Demand:
Wednesday 2 December – The Sister
Starring Russell Tovey (Years and Years), Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones) and Nina Toussaint-White (Bodyguard), this British psychological thriller is from Luther creator Neil Cross. Praised by The Guardian as a “nail-biting whodunnit that is truly haunting,” it centres on Nathan who, almost a decade into his devoted married life, is rocked to the core when an unwelcome face from the past turns up on his doorstep with shocking news, triggering a series of catastrophic decisions.
The Sister airs weekly on SBS from 9.30pm Wednesday 2 December. Episodes land at SBS On Demand the same day they go to air. Watch episode 1 now:
Thursday 3 December – Aquarius
Starring David Duchovny as an LAPD detective, Aquarius is a gritty 1960s crime drama revolving around the Charles Manson murders.
Thursday 10 December – Low Winter Sun, The Minister
Thrilling American drama series Low Winter Sun is a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. Set in Detroit and starring Mark Strong (Temple, Deep State), the series begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow detective.
Icelandic political drama The Minister stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped) as the newly elected Prime Minister. As he starts losing his grip on reality, the effects flow onto not only his family but the entire nation.
Friday 11 December – Departure
Six-part Canadian drama Departure follows the disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean. Investigator Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi) is brought in by her mentor Howard Lawson (Christopher Plummer) to lead the team looking into the crash. With the whole world watching, Kendra and her team must race to find the missing aircraft and rescue possible survivors.
Thursday 17 December – The Investigation, Home Ground
Based on a true story, Scandi noir series The Investigation explores the gripping case of murdered young Swedish journalist Kim Wall. The series covers the six-month investigation into how and why Wall was murdered on a submarine where she was interviewing the eccentric inventor who built it.
Season 2 of Norwegian drama Home Ground arrives in which a newly promoted football club loses its coach just before the start of the league season. A woman, Helena Mikkelsen, gets the historic chance to coach the team, over an ambitious player who was promised the job.

Thursday 31 December – Martial Universe
With sixty episodes dropping on New Year’s Eve, Martial Universe is a Chinese fantasy series for fans of Game of Thrones. Lin Dong is forsaken by his clan. When he comes across a stone talisman with magical powers, life will never be the same again. His adventures help him hone his skills as a martial artist, to keep a demon sect from taking over the world.
